Coily Wash Day

Coily hair (or type 4 hair) is often referred to as afro or kinky hair. Coily hair can consist of very tight corkscrews or a ‘Z’ shaped pattern that starts right from the root. This curly hair type often appears shorter than it actually is due to how tight the curls are - this is referred to as shrinkage. This is the driest and most fragile curl type, as the tightly wound coils don’t allow natural scalp oils to travel down the hair length. We have designed our Coily Wash Day bundle as a complete wash & styling routine that addresses all coily needs: deep moisture and definition.

How to use

ESSENTIAL MOISTURE CLEANSER

Step 1

After washing with the Curlsmith Essential Moisture Cleanser, apply the conditioner generously on wet hair concentrating on the lengths and ends. Coat all strands evenly and gently detangle the hair to get rid of all knots. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then rinse.

ESSENTIAL MOISTURE CONDITIONER

Step 2

Apply generously on wet hair. Massage vigorously into your scalp to break down dirt and product build-up. Rinse off thoroughly. Follow with the Curlsmith Essential Moisture Conditioner to hydrate and moisturize.

CURL CONDITIONING OIL-IN-CREAM

Step 3

Apply the Curl Conditioning Oil-in-Cream to soaking wet hair after washing. Rake through to ensure you are evenly coating all strands, then use the “praying hands” method to smooth all locks down, seal the moisture in and tame the cuticles.

IN-SHOWER STYLE FIXER

Step 4

Use the In-Shower Style Fixer on soaking wet hair. Take a dime sized amount per hair section. Rub it between your palms. Smooth down the length of the hair using the “praying hands” method. Scrunch gently upwards, then air dry or diffuse. When fully dry, scrunch again to break the cast and reveal soft, bouncy curls.
